Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office warns of scam involving incarcerated individuals
WHITFIELD COUNTY — The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) is warning individuals about a scam involving recent arrest information and incarcerated individuals.
They say they assume that scammers are now preying on recent arrest information and calling families of those who have been incarcerated.
These scammers claim to be from bonding companies trying to receive payment to post a bond.
The WCSO says one report they received even shows that a scammer called a family only 30 minutes after their relative was arrested.
They are reminding locals to stay alert and aware.
