CFD rescues 9 people from an apartment fire

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Late Tuesday night, Chattanooga Fire Department rescued 9 people from an apartment fire on 404 Tunnel Boulevard.

At around 11:30 PM, there were several frantic 9-11 calls about residents trapped in their apartments due to heavy smoke.

Several had fled to their balconies to escape.

One family was trapped on the 3rd floor balcony with small children.

Due to this being an entrapment call, additional manpower and resources were brought to the scene.

Firefighters quickly made resuces to get residents down and other crews worked on a fire attack.

The fire was under control by 12 AM and the building sustained damage.

Fortunately, there were no injuries.

The Chattanooga Fire Department  thank the dispatchers and the Tri-State Mutual Aid partners for filling in and providing coverage while CFD personnel worked this fire.
