Boyd Buchanan and Marion Co Prepare For One vs Two Showdown
Before the season started, Boyd Buchanan coach Grant Reynolds felt the new 2-A region his team played in would be the toughest in the state.
Well it doesn’t get much tougher than one versus two. Tonight at Boyd Buchanan, the second ranked Bucs will host number one ranked Marion County in a huge region showdown.
Marion County coach Ricky Ross embraces about everything that goes with a one versus two showdown.
Ricky-"It’s a lot more fun. That’s why you’re in this. Getting to coach in games like this. That’s what you look forward to."
Said Reynolds-"To be a championship team, you want to be in games that are of big magnitude and mean something. This is definitely one of those games. It gives your kids all kinds of experience doing things they need to do to get better."
The players can’t wait to experience the big game atmosphere.
Said Marion Co receiver Bryce Massengale-"You can feel a little bit more excitement for the kickoff. It’s a whole lot more exciting."
Added Boyd linebacker Jake Harden-"It puts the game in a bigger perspective, but also it makes you want to get everything right."
Both coaches believe their teams are hitting their stride in time for tonight’s showdown.
Said Reynolds-"That’s what I really like about our team. Each week they have a want to get better and do things right. That’s a mark of a good football team."
Said Ross-"Hopefully the strength of our team is that we are multiple in who we are. It’s not just one guy on defense or one guy on offense. It’s hopefully a team."
The Warriors had someone parachute the game ball in against South Pittsburg. So will Boyd do anything like that this evening?
Chuckled Reynolds-"Nobody will be parachuting in a game ball. We’re going to cook up some hamburgers and hot dogs and try to be as accomodating as possible."
