Heritage High senior lives his dream at homecoming football game

Ringgold, GA (WDEF) – It was the big Homecoming game for the Heritage High Generals, but it wasn’t looking good. The score was 42 and 0 in the fourth quarter with just five minutes left in the game.

That’s when senior Logan Pickett hit the field, and what happened next will go down in Heritage High History, "Well, (he) handed me the ball, and I just scored a touch down."

Pickett is the football team manager. He’s also living with autism, but that didn’t stop him from living out one of his lifelong dreams Friday night.

"The whole team rushed over, and even some of Cartersville team rushed over," said Senior and football player, Jacob Bonine, "It was just great to finally see all his hard work over all four years finally get to go out there and be an actual player."

"He’s Heritage’s biggest fan," said head coach EK Slaughter, "He gets the crowd going on Friday night’s, and he’s got a lot of jobs… he’s gotta keep the water going, he’s gotta keep the equipment where it’s supposed to be, and he does them all and he does them well."

Pickett has been with the team for all four years, fellow students say he’s a big Tennessee fan and loves Payton Manning.
