Dalton Police Investigate Fatal Crash From Thursday

Dalton (WDEF) – Dalton Police are asking for the public’s help in finding out what caused a fatal crash Thursday Afternoon.

It happened around 3:30 at the intersection of Shugart Road and Highway 41.

A Chevy Blazer suddenly veered into the turn lane and rear-ended a stopped dump truck.

The driver, 68 year old Harry Whitfield from Calhoun, and his wife were both taken to the hospital.

67 year old Linda Whitfield would later die from her injuries.

The dump truck driver was also taken to the hospital for observation.

Investigators don’t know what caused the vehicle to swerve, so they are asking anyone who saw it to contact Officer Sean Hudson at 706-278-9085, dial 9 and enter extension 312.
