Nearly 200 locals stop by Chattanooga Speaks event
Main Street Innovations, partnering with other community organizations, came up with the event to offer an open and honest conversation about race in today’s society and how it ties in with technology, education and women.
Donna Christian-Lowe, chief operations officer for the organization, said it’s all about getting the conversation started, "I think people want to have open dialogue, and as long as I’ve been living I’ve heard, ‘Hey! Let’s start the conversation.’ We really wanna start the conversation, but we wanna take action, and that’s what we’re doing with Chattanooga Speaks."
More than 180 people showed up for tonight’s discussion, and Mayor Andy Burke even stopped by to say a few words. For a complete list of upcoming events hosted by the organization visit Main Street Innovations on Facebook.
