Traneil Moore Racking Up Big Yards For East Ridge

East Ridge-(WDEF) The home football stands at East Ridge high school have been condemned this year.

And there might be a few teams that wish Pioneers running back Traneil Moore was condemned as well. He has burst onto the scene this year and become one of the most exciting players to watch on the Chattanooga gridiron scene.

When Traneil Moore transferred to East Ridge, at first,he was pegged for a run stopper and not a running back.
Said Moore-"I came to play running back and linebacker. That’s where they put me. I was mostly playing linebacker because there were already two running backs in front of me."
When Moore got a chance to carry the ball, he dropped the ball.
Said head coach Tracy Malone-"I’ll be honest with you. He got one carry in the jamboree and fumbled. I got a doghouse memory that goes for days."
But when Coach Malone later forgot about the fumble, Moore started to rumble in the backfield.
Said Malone-"He didn’t even start at Brainerd, game two. He started kind of rolling there in the second quarter and man, it’s just been a whirlwind ever since."
Moore is now one of the top backs in town, rushing over 1,200 yards.
Said Malone-"He really is special. He has got a chance to be one of the best that’s come through here."
Said Moore-"I believe I can do it all, but I’m more of a speed back than a power back."
Added Malone-"You just watch him. He’s special. He glides when he runs. It’s effortless. He has got great break-away speed. He also has got great feet."
Moore is a big reason why East Ridge is undefeated this season.
Said Moore-"It’s very exciting to be on an 8-0 team. Very exciting to be on this team with my brothers. I really love this team."
Said Malone-"This is the best offensive line we’ve had since I’ve been here. They take an awful lot of pride in their guy, who is up there in the top of the county in rushing or area rushing. They keep stats of it. Every time he rips off a touchdown run, they call it a house call."
