Anonymous tip leads Chattanooga police to armed robbery suspect
Derek Garcia, 25, of Red Bank was charged with one count of aggravated robbery.
According to the arrest affidavit, Garcia was identified as the person who used a knife to rob a clerk at the Econo Lodge on Browns Ferry Road Wednesday night.
The clerk told police that Garcia walked into the motel and asked for a room. Then she said he held her at knife-point and demanded money from the cash register.
After taking $201.00, she told police Garcia left the motel on foot.
Two hours after the robbery, police received an anonymous phone call from someone who identified Garcia as the robber.
Once police obtained suspect information, they showed the Econo Lodge clerk a photo lineup. The clerk positively identified Garcia as the person who robbed her at knife-point.
Garcia is being held on a $120,000 bond and his next court date is October 26.
