The “New & Improved” Tall Betsy Returns to Cleveland Block Party
Cleveland (WDEF) – Tall Betsy makes a brief return to the Cleveland Block Part Halloween night.
She will entertain the crowd for about 30 minutes beginning at 7:30 PM.
The local legend was re-introduced last Halloween with a new look.
Allan Jones has been the keeper of the legend for his hometown.
Following several years of retirement, Jones re-introduced her last year after a makeover by Hollywood Mask Masters in California.
Tall Betsy was a real person in Cleveland lore.
The legend goes back to the early 1900s, when an unusually tall woman walked the streets of Cleveland at night.
Parents told their children that if they didn’t come inside, Tall Betsy would get them.
Jones turned the legend into a Halloween character, which appeared regularly at the block party from 1980-1998.
