Mocs DE Keionta Davis on Watch List For FCS Defensive Player of the Year

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior defensive end Keionta Davis has been added to the STATS FCS National Defensive Player of the Year Award Watch List.

Davis is currently leading the Southern Conference with 8.5 sacks and 11.5 tackles-for-loss in 2015.  The Chattanooga native has helped guide UTC to a 7-1 overall record and a 5-0 mark in league play.

This is the sixth time in the last seven years a UTC defensive player has been up for the national honor.  Previous Mocs on the list include Josh Beard (2009), Wes Dothard (2011-12) and Davis Tull (2012-13).

Senior QB Jacob Huesman was named to the STATS FCS Offensive Player of the Year Watch List in the preseason.

UTC currently leads the SoCon and is No. 12 in the nation in total defense (295.9).  The Mocs are also top in the league and No. 12 in the nation in scoring defense (17.3).

The Mocs head to Macon, Ga., to take on Mercer this weekend.  UTC faces the Bears (3-5, 0-4 SoCon) at 4:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) on Saturday, Nov. 7.  The game broadcasts on ESPN3.
