New details on Olive St. homicide
Cordarius Robinson, 27, of Chattanooga surrendered himself to police after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Police identified Robinson as the person who shot and killed Timothy Harris.
According to the arrest affidavit obtained by News 12, the case against Robinson began when police were dispatched to a shooting in the 1600 block of Olive Street.
When officers arrived on scene, they found Harris on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Harris was taken to Erlanger where he was later pronounced dead.
According to police, witnesses told investigators that Robinson was arguing with his girlfriend when Harris walked up to them. According to the arrest affidavit, Robinson’s girlfriend told Harris to go back inside. Witnesses told police Robinson’s girlfriend said “he did not hurt me daddy.”
The same witnesses told police Robinson said out loud, “I will just shoot him.”
According to witnesses, Harris began to walk away but Robinson still shot him multiple times.
Witnesses told police that Harris and his girlfriend got into a black Jeep Wrangler and drove away from the scene.
When police talked to Robinson’s girlfriend, she told investigators that she and Robinson went to check on her mother after receiving a phone call about Harris assaulting her mother.
According to the arrest affidavit, when Robinson and his girlfriend arrived at the home on Olive Street, there was a verbal argument that led to physical argument between her, Robinson and Harris. She told police she heard Harris say something about a gun so she ran from the altercation.
Robinson’s girlfriend told police that after leaving the altercation, she heard several gunshots then ran back to the Jeep Wrangler where she saw Robinson get into the vehicle from the passenger side with a gun in his hand.
She told police she attempted to drive Robinson from the scene to his mother’s house but the vehicle broke down on Chamberlain Avenue.
Robinson was charged with aggravated assault and criminal homicide.
Wednesday morning, Robinson was released from custody on a $50,000 bond.
He’s due in court next Tuesday.
