Woman Charged with Faking Pregnancy to Get TennCare

Nashville (WDEF) The Office of Inspector General has found a new twist on TennCare fraud.

They say a Lawrenceburg woman signed up for the state insurance plan when she got pregnant.

But investigators found that 36-year old Brandy Lee Jones’s pregnancy was just a ploy to qualify.

Now she faces two counts of TennCare fraud and four counts of theft of services.

Inspector General Manny Tyndall says “People committing TennCare fraud are taking something they’re not entitled to, and the chance of getting caught has increased substantially.”

TennCare fraud is a Class E felony carrying a sentence of up to two years in prison per charge.
