Tyner Academy vs. Boyd-Buchanan School

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Second round of the state playoffs Friday night, and we got a few local rematches.

Over at Boyd Buchanan, the top ranked Bucs entertained Tyner.

The Rams were hoping for a much better showing the second time around.

They lost to the Bucs 40-7 earlier this season.

There would be no blowout Friday night.

This game was a dogfight.

Final snap of the 1st Quarter, Bucs E.J. Matthews goes 18 yards to the 6 yard line.

2nd Quarter, Bucs will punch it in, Cooper Hodge scores from 3 yards out, it’s 7 – 0.

Tyner answers on their next series.

Emmanuel Moss with a wobbly pass and Juwan Samuels comes down with it.

A 30 yard TD pass, game went to the half tied at 7.

Which team would catch fire in the 2nd half? 

The answer appeared to be Tyner.

Opening drive of the 3rd Quarter, Moss hits Shannon Spralls for the touchdown, but there was a flag on the play.

It’s an illegal receiver down field.

Coach Turner, says "No there wasn’t".

Rams go back to the air against and this time, Moss’s pass is picked off by Kohl Henke.

So, the Bucs dodge a bullet.

Late in the 3rd Quarter, Rams near the red zone again.

Ball is out, and Kell Stott recovers it for Boyd, but Boyd’s offense couldn’t do anything with the turnovers.

Rams defense was suffocating, Chayson Patrick sacks Cooper Hodge.

Only 1:30 left to play, Rams at the 1.

Spralls muscles it in for the touchdown.

PAT was no good.

It was 13 – 7.

Last chance for Boyd.

4th and long, and Hodge’s pass is knocked down.

Bucs did not have a 1st down in the 2nd half.

Tyner springs the upset, beating top ranked Boyd 13 – 7.
