Suspects In Wal-Mart Death Arrested
Manchester, TN (WDEF) – Two suspects wanted in a deadly Wal-Mart hit and run have been arrested in Manchester, Tennessee.
Detectives received a tip by phone about the suspects and a vehicle that law enforcement was trying to find.
Manchester, Tennessee Police Department later located the vehicle and made a traffic stop.
They identified the occupants as 27 year old Brandon Shawn Smith and 37 year old Stephanie Marie Rodriguez.
The vehicle was also identified as the silver 2002 Honda Accord seen leaving the incident of the Homicide-Robbery at the Covington, Georgia Wal-Mart.
Investigators believe the couple are responsible for the death of 65-year-old Marsha Johnson in the store parking lot.
It happened after the suspects tried to snatch her purse, and then ran over her with their car.
Smith and Rodriguez were arrested and are currently in custody in Manchester, Tennessee and awaiting extradition to Covington.
At one point, it was believed the couple was in Chattanooga, Tennessee after the victim’s credit card was found near a local chicken factory.
