Dalton Arrest Man For Selling Counterfeit Phones
But the charges quickly got more severe.
the officer responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle Sunday afternoon around 4:30 on Glenwood Avenue.
A taxi driver said that 22-year old Giovanni Esposito was trying to sell bogus phones out of his car.
But when the officer approached, the suspect tried to back away.
When the officer ordered him to stop, he drove towards the officer, the cab driver and two fares standing outside the cab.
They got out of the way, but Esposito ran a red light and fled.
However another officer got him a short time later.
Esposito faces charges of theft by deception, aggravated assault, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
One of those taxi fares reported buying one of the fakes.
He set up another meeting with Esposito and called police.
They found five counterfeit Samsung Galaxy phones on him.
Dalton police ask anyone else who may have bought a phone from this man to please contact Detective Tommy Ensley at 706-278-9085, dial 9 and enter extension 157.
