Chattanooga Principal Selected for Inaugural Program

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF) – A Chattanooga teacher is given a unique opportunity in our nation’s capital.

Principal Jill Levine of Normal Park Museum Magnet School was selected to participate in a special 2-day summit.

Levine adds, "It’s exciting and what really has jumped out at me is how much the people in the department really care about educating the nation’s children and helping to make schools better. They’re really excited to have real educators in the building and I’m excited to see how passionate they really are about helping people’s approach."

Levine was one of three principals selected from a pool of more than 450 applicants.

She’ll serve until August 2014 as a part-time employee.

It’s a part of the US Department of Education’s first Principal Ambassador Fellows program.

Levine is in D.C. to become more familiar with federal education policy.

She’ll also share ideas on enhancing communication between school and education policy leaders.
