Marion Co Back in 2A State Title Game to Face a Tough Trezevant Team

Making back-to-back state championship games is a time to celebrate for Marion County, and it’s also a time to catch your breath.
Reporter-"Does it feel like a tough road to get to this point."
Said lineman Corey Tucker-(big breath)"It was tough."
It was certainly tough for Marion County in the 2A title game last year as they lost to Peabody, 34-7.
Said running back Jacob Saylors-"Everybody will go there with a mentality that we don’t want to come home again with silver."
Said head coach Ricky Ross-"I think it is tremendous that they’ve been there and done that. They know that feeling of going and maybe not doing your best."
Said Tucker-"Just the feeling we had last year where we didn’t achieve our goals. I think that’s going to motivate us to play harder."
The Warriors will have to play hard against Trezevant.
The Bears lost in the 4A state title game last year.
Now here they are dropping down to play for the 2A crown.
Said Ross-"We talk about it all the time. Anything great worth having, is worth paying the ultimate price. So we want to play the best."
Leading the Bears is junior running back Cordarrian Richardson, who is being recruited by all the major SEC schools.
Said Tucker-"I think it’s going to be great against someone that has that skill level."
Added Saylors-"We’re not scared of anything. We’re ready to get out there. Accept the challenge, and we want to show everybody in the state Marion County, and what kind of defense we have and everything."
Kickoff Saturday in Cookeville is set for noon.
