Flood Warning for Sequatchie River extended through Friday afternoon
Whitwell, TN (WDEF) – The National Weather Service extended the Flood Warning for the Sequatchie River near Whitwell until Friday afternoon.
Wednesday morning, the river was at 14.9-feet, above the flood stage of 14.9-feet. Minor flooding is already occurring. NWS forecasters expect the river to crest at 15.5-feet late Thursday night, then fall below flood stage by Friday morning.
If the river reaches 16-feet, flooding of agricultural land becomes more extensive, and water reaches the bottom of the river gauge house.
