More Than 2,000 Children Still Without Christmas Presents
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF)- While you’re out shopping on Black Friday, the Salvation Army wants to remind you that there are thousands of children in our area still need Christmas presents.
You can pick an angel off the Christmas trees at Hamilton Place, Northgate, and Bradley Square Malls.
Salvation Army officials say they have 97-percent more angels registered this year compared to five years ago.
So, they’re asking you to make the angel tree program a priority this holiday week.
Catharine Wells, the marketing director at Hamilton Place Mall, says, "Angel tree program has been going very well, but there is such a huge need. There is still 2, 312 angels that need to adopted and we only have a week left to go."
Next month the gifts will be purchased for the children and distributed.
On December 6th and 7th the Salvation Army will also be hosting a bike drive at the Wal-Mart store on Gunbarrel Road.
Their goal is to collect 500 bikes for children who are less fortunate.
