East Ridge Arrest Suspect in Violent Home Burglary

East Ridge (WDEF) – A homeless Rossville man is in serious trouble after police say he tried to kill two people during a break in.

It happened Friday night in the 1500 block of Burns Avenue in East Ridge.

18 year old Matthew Rieder is facing two counts of attempted criminal homicide and four counts of aggravated assault.

When police arrived on scene, officers caught Rieder beating one of the victims head in to the ground.

When they tried to take Rieder into custody, he put up a good fight and wasn’t fazed by being tasered.

It took several officers to get him in handcuffs.

Rieder faces 8 charges, including attempted homicide, assault, burglary and resisting arrest.

He remains in jail on a 50,000 Bond.
