Custodian Shot on His Way To Work Outside His Home
Verdis Johnson is in surgery right now for his injuries.
He was known at Normal Park as "Mr. J."

East Ridge (WDEF) – A 60-year old man was shot multiple times this morning in East Ridge.
It happened at an apartment complex in the 3100 block if Bimini Place shortly before 6AM.
According to a witness who is also the victim’s niece, the shooter was hiding behind the victim’s van when he came up on the victim and shot him three times.
A witness says the shooter was dress in all black with his face covered. The shooter took off on foot away from the apartment complex.
The victim was identified by family as Verdis Johnson. Johnson is a custodian at Normal Park Elementary who was on his way to work when he was attacked.
Right now police are still searching for the suspect.
This story has been updated to change where Mr. Johnson worked. Initial reports had him working at Red Bank Elementary.
