UPDATE: Person barricaded in at Super 8 Motel in Ooltewah
Officers received a phone call from a Super 8 employee, who was worried about one of the residences in emotional distress. But when officers arrived on scene, the man, whose name has not been released yet, refused to come out of the room.
"Our negotiators, negotiated for quite some time. It became apparent that due to his condition that he was not going to come out," said Assistant Chief, Eric Tucker.
There was no way of knowing whether or not the suspect was armed, or if they were a danger to society, which eventually lead officers to stop traffic surrounding the motel. And hours later, "We finally deployed tactical, and was able to take him into custody," said Tucker.
Officers say the suspect will likely be charged with property damage, and taken to a specialist for evaluation. The suspect was taken into custody without injury. No one else was hurt, and the roads have now been reopened.
