Mocs Assistant Will Healy Leaving UTC For Head Coaching Job at Austin Peay
Long time Mocs assistant coach Will Healy is leaving Chattanooga to take the head coaching job at Austin Peay.
Healy faces a daunting task for his first head coaching position. The Governors were 0-11 last year.
Healy has been a member of the Mocs staff ever since head coach Russ Huesman’s first season in 2009.
Healy has coached receivers the past few seasons, and he was a big recruiter for the Mocs.
Healy was a quarterback at Boyd Buchanan before going on to play collegiately at Richmond, where he was a team captain on the Spiders 2008 national championship team.
Austin Peay released a statement Monday saying Healy would be introduced at a Wednesday news conference. Athletic director Ryan Ivey called Healy "a rising star in the profession."
Healy replaces Kirby Cannon, who was fired after going 1-34 in a three-year tenure that included an 0-11 mark this season.
