Strange Details on Death of Child Left in Car in Fairview
Braxton Pate’s grandmother was taking care of him while his mother worked.
She visited friends at a home in Fairview, Georgia and left Braxton inside, with the heater running.
The visit lasted five hours.
The grandmother looked out the window at the car, but never went out to check again on Braxton.
When she came back 5 hours later, the child was unresponsive.
They rushed Braxton to the hospital but he was pronounced dead.
The preliminary hearing showed Braxton died from hyperthermia, or overheating.
Officials believe the combination of the sun through the windows and the heater, superheated the car, even though it was cold outside.
So far the grandmother has not been charged with anything, but the investigation continues.
