Huesman Named MVP of the Tropic Bowl

(Gomocs.com) University of Tennessee at Chattanooga All-American Jacob Huesman was named the Overall MVP of the Tropic Bowl today.  Played in Miami, Fla., the Tropic Bowl is in its inaugural year and showcases some of the top senior talent in college football.

Huesman quarterbacked the American Team coached by Bill Khayat.  Playing half of the snaps under center, he guided his squad to a 38-14 win.  In typical Huesman fashion, he ran for one score and threw for another.

"I had a blast," said Huesman after the game.  "It was fun to get out there and compete.  I enjoyed getting to know guys from other teams and see how I measured up against players from the SEC and ACC.

Teams were filled by representatives of schools from across the country, including the SEC, Pac 12, ACC, Big 12 and Big 10, along with the top FCS players.  Reportedly, there were 27 NFL teams scouting the talent at the game.

Samford’s Anthony Pistelli and The Citadel’s Mitchell Jeter were the only other Southern Conference players listed on the two rosters.

"We practiced for two days, but it poured rain on the first day," added Huesman.  "There were a bunch of scouts who stayed for the game, so it was exciting to play in front of them."

Huesman was a three-time SoCon Offensive Player of the Year at UTC from 2012-15.  He graduated in December and holds most of the offensive records in school history.
