Blood donations urgently needed!!!

Due to the icy weather much of the Tennessee Valley saw last week, Blood Assurance needs donations of all blood types, but they need more O positive, O negative and A negative donors.

Blood Assurance Marketing Coordinator Mindy Quinn says, "The donations are down, usage is up due to weather and crisis situations, trauma situations; also weather prevents people from being able to ship blood to where it needs to go. We’ve been very lucky, we’ve been able to ship, but our donations are definitely down and weather is definitely playing a piece of that factor."

Donors who give between now and February 3rd will be entered into a drawing to win a flat screen TV and a platter of wings for their Super Bowl party.

Both national and local blood donation level are critically low right now.

Locally, Blood Assurance has a one day supply of all blood types when they usually have 5 days worth.
