Walker County Sheriff’s Office investigating suspicious death
It happened Tuesday evening at a home in the 200 block of Orchard Avenue.
According to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, when officers arrived at the home, they found two men who had been involved in a physical altercation. One of the men was identified by several close neighbors as Torrey Creek, 54.
Both men were taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, Creek was pronounced dead.
Creek’s body was sent off to a GBI crime lab to determine cause of death.
A close neighbor who knew Creek told News 12 she heard what sounded like a scuffle before police arrived.
"I just remember hearing people other there and then I went inside. Then I came back out, ran over and I saw the inside. It was not a pretty scene," said the neighbor who asked to remain anonymous.
The same neighbor also told News 12 that when paramedics arrived, Creek appeared unresponsive.
Another close neighbor who knew Creek told News 12 that Creek was more like a neighborhood father figure.
"I was working with his niece. It was a really long night. He was a great guy. He didn’t deserve to go out like that. He would give you the shirt off his back. He didn’t deserve to go," said Melissa Miller.
The other man involved in the altercation with Creek has not been identified and no charges have been filed against him. Investigators are waiting to receive the result of the autopsy report to determine if charges will be filed.
