Early morning fire damages McDonald’s in Ooltewah
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A fire early this morning at a McDonalds restaurant in Ooltewah didn’t turn out to be as bad as first reported.
Chattanooga fire officials say the first report around 5AM was that flames were shooting through the roof.
But when firefighers arrived, they only found light smoke inside the building.
A Collegedale police officer who is also a volunteer firefighter had already used a fire extinguisher to contain it.
The fire was limited to the fryer exhaust system.
The damage was estimated at $10,000.
But the restaurant will remain closed until they can repair the damage and pass a Fire Marshal’s inspection.
