Tennessee lawmakers put off a vote last night on a controversial school voucher bill.
The house sponsor delayed the vote until later this week due to a flurry of proposed amendments.
The bill would make seven-thousand dollar vouchers available to low-income families whose children attend the state’s worst-ranking schools.
Those families could apply the voucher toward private school tuition.

Also, in Georgia, Students and faith leaders gathered on the steps of the state capitol Monday to show support for a bill that would allow prayer back in schools.
House Bill 816, known as Georgia Student Religious Liberties Act of 2016, says “students in local schools may pray or engage in religious activities or religious expression before, during, and after the school day.”

Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher is seeking funds to launch a program to recruit more minority police officers.
He plans to call the recruitment program “Each One Reach One”
Chief Fletcher plans to pay people 500-dollar incentives for recommending minority police cadets.
