50K Tree Day happens February 27th

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Tennessee’s largest tree-planting event happens at the end of this month, and that’s a definite Amy-O-Meter 10!

50K Tree Day is organized by Tennessee Environmental Council, and the goal is for participants to plant 50,000 native trees in one day.

Around 10,000 free trees are still up for grabs to anyone who registers (while supplies last).

You can request tree seedlings of Shumard (Red) Oak, Virginia Pine, RedBud, Flowering Dogwood and Yellow (Tulip) Poplar — Tennessee’s state tree.

There are tree pick-up sites in Bradley, Hamilton, Grundy, Polk, and Sequatchie Counties. See the list here.
