Rossville man charged with Human Trafficking

Chattanooga (WDEF) – The TBI along with several other agencies conducted a sting in Chattanooga that resulted in the arrest of a Rossville man on charges of human trafficking.

The investigation began with a tip from the Second Life Chattanooga agency.

They said a 17 year old female was being trafficked at the Microtel Inn and Suites near the Hamilton Place exit off of I 75.

The Human Trafficking Unit arranged for an undercover officer to meet her for sex in exchange for money by calling a number listed in a backpage.com ad.

Investigators say Hector Velasquez controlled the girl during the transactions and stayed with her in the hotel room.

They say he is a sex offender in Florida on the run.

Velasquez faces charges of Human Trafficking, Promoting Prostitution, and Criminal Impersonation.

Chattanooga Police and the GBI were part of the sting.
