DeKalb Investigates cause of fatal weekend fire on Sand Mountain
VALLEY HEAD, Ala. (WDEF) – Officials are investigating the cause of a fire that apparently took the life of a northeast Alabama man over the weekend.
The house fire happened around 4:10 AM Saturday on County Road 239 outside Valley Head right on the Georgia/Alabama state line.
Crews from Trenton to Mentone responded because of the location.
Authorities believe the victim is 38-year old Travis Nathaniel Clark.
The body has been taken to the Department of Forensic Science in Huntsville for an autopsy.
Dekalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris says “our thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this tragic time.”
