Perdue Foods issues a recall on 4,500 pounds of chicken nuggets. The Georgia Agriculture Department says the nuggets may include plastic. The products are packaged as Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets and come in eight-ounce boxes, containing about 18 chicken nuggets with a “Best Before” date of September 27.

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam’s on-again, off-again gas tax hike could return this year. Haslam asked his aides to survey lawmakers about whether road project needs in their districts are pressing enough that they are now willing to get behind the state’s first gas tax increase since 1989. The state has $6-billion in road projects backlogged.

A Vanderbilt University graduate student was fatally stabbed during a school trip to Israel. Chancellor Nicholas Zeppos says Taylor Force was seeking to learn more about global entrepreneurship and start-ups in Israel while overseas. Other Vanderbilt students and faculty on the trip are safe and unharmed.
