Woman arrested after driving vehicle through vaccine tent in Maryville

MARYVILLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – A woman has been arrested after driving her vehicle through a Covid vaccine tent in Blount County on Monday.

Deputies say they saw her drive into the tent at Foothills Mall while health department and national guard members were inside.

Virginia Christine Lewis Brown has been charged with reckless endangerment.

She faces seven counts for the seven people in the tent who could have been injured.

But none were.

Witnesses say she was shouting “No Vaccine” as she drove through.

Brown admitted to deputies that she did it as a protest.

The Sheriff’s incident report says “While traveling to the jail, Ms. Brown made several statements about wanting to protest the vaccine. Ms. Brown stated she was driving through the course and once she got to the tent she told the personnel working she was not there for the vaccine.”

She says she was only going about 5 miles an hour but deputies say she was traveling at a “high speed.”
