Bradley warns of Irish Travellers scam in the county

CLEVELAND, Tennessee (WDEF) – Bradley County officials warn that the “Irish Travellers” group may be working in our area.
The say the case of Tommy Sherlock should be a warning to others.
They have charged the South Carolina man with scamming an elderly resident in the Hopewell area.
They say he badgered the resident to get work done on their driveway.
“Once a small amount of work had been done, Sherlock became aggressive, demanding payment for the work. The victim reports to have been intimated into driving separately to a local retailer to obtain the maximum cash back from several small purchases. A sticky black film was left on the victim’s driveway, ultimately requiring it to be replaced or re-surfaced entirely.”
After posting his photo, community members identified the suspect as Tommy Sherlock.
They took out warrants against him for Theft, Vandalism and Financial Exploitation of an Elderly Adult.
Bradley investigators says that Sherlock is an Irish Traveller.
They say the group is known for targeting the elderly and bullying them with aggressive sales tactics, usually involving home improvement.
