Hamilton County Deputy thinks it was a bear that caused him to flip his car

SODDY DAISY, Tenn. (WDEF) – Beware of bears on Highway 27.

A Hamilton County deputy says he swerved to miss a large, dark animal this morning and flipped his squad car.

He believes it was a bear, and several other witnesses agree with him.

It happened at the Sequoyah Road intersection around 5 AM.

The deputy was sent to the hospital to get checked out and the Sheriff’s office reports he is doing well.

The bear got away without a scratch.

The Sheriff’s Department reminds drivers that warmer spring weather means bear season is back.

So be careful out there.
