Alabama CEO returns to Earth’s highest mountain for climb

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – An Alabama-based CEO is expecting to return to the Earth’s highest mountain for a second time this month after a massive earthquake stopped his initial climb.

Al.com reports that 59-year-old Kent Stewart will be traveling to Nepal in late April to climb Mount Everest. Stewart’s Birmingham-based Reli Title handles residential and commercial real estate transactions throughout Alabama and parts of Tennessee and Florida.

In 2014, Stewart trained to climb Everest, but he canceled after controversy struck following an avalanche killed 16 people at the mountain. He also made an attempt in 2013, but didn’t make it to the top.

If Stewart reaches the top this time, Stewart will plant flag for the University of Alabama – his alma mater.
