Law Enforcement Memorial Honors Those Who Protect
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- People in Chattanooga took time this evening to honor those who protect.
At tonight’s ceremony officers and family members lay roses for fallen officers.
There was also a candlelight vigil.
The Law Enforcement Memorial is a combined effort from citizens and law enforcement agencies in Hamilton County.
It is dedicated to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and to their families.
“Please know that like the drops in the ocean our fallen officers carry on in the waves of officers that follow behind them and on days like today we remember their sacrifice and allow their lives and memories to wash over us anew.”
Officials say, on average one law enforcement officer is killed in the line of duty in the United states every 57 hours.
