Police: Maryville man had 60 lbs of marijuana shipped to home
MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A Maryville man was charged after he had more than 60 pounds of marijuana shipped to his residence. Investigators with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force charged him with possession of marijuana with intent to resell.
The drug task force was contacted on March 22 by an out-of-state agency, where marijuana is legal, saying a package was intercepted containing marijuana and addressed to Magness at his address. The package was then forwarded to authorities in Tennessee the following day.
That’s when the drug task force assisted the DEA with a controlled delivery operation in which Magness took possession of the two packages.
On Monday, investigators obtained a warrant on Magness for possession of a Scheduled VI controlled substance (marijuana) in excess of 60 lbs., for resale.
Magness is being held in the Blount County Detention Facility on a $25,000 bond pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. on April 13.
