Vols Basketball Sign First Knoxville Area Kid in Three Decades
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Tennessee has announced the addition of guard Jordan Bowden, the Volunteers’ first scholarship men’s basketball signee from a Knoxville-area high school in over three decades.
Bowden is a Knoxville native who graduated from Carter High School in nearby Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. He currently attends 22 Feet Academy of Shannon Forest Christian School in Greenville, South Carolina.
Tennessee’s last scholarship signee who played for a Knox County high school was Doug Roth in 1985.
Bowden joins a signing class that already included guards Jordan Bone and Kwe (KWAY’) Parker and forwards John Fulkerson, Jalen Johnson and Grant Williams. The other five members of the class were announced during the fall signing period.
