Cleveland Police Have Suspect in Stabbing Death of Two People

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) –

UPDATE: Cleveland Police Department identified all victims from Thursday afternoon stabbing at Springbrook Apartments.

Cleveland Police Sgt. Evie West reports the two deceased victims are 33-year-old Crystal Canino and 35-year-old Crystal York, the third stabbing victim has been identified as 35-year-old Anthony Beck.

Beck remains in critical condition at Erlanger Medical Center.

Cleveland Police have charged 24-year-old Stephen Jacob Reed aka: Stephen Jacob Gaddis with two counts of 2nd Degree Murder and one count of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder.

PRIOR STORY:

Cleveland police investigators are trying to piece together what happened in late morning here at the Springbrook Apartments in the 2300 hundred block of Blackburn Road. The complex was sealed of for most of the day–with no one allowed in or out.

SGT. EVIE WEST “They are being very patient, which is good. And in something like this because we have two fatalities we can’t rush this investigation

A suspect was quickly arrested at the scene.

SGT. EVIE WEST “Our officers got here within just a few minutes of when the call came out. And our officers put him in custody.”

Police are not releasing detailed information, but the stabbing apparently covered a wide area.

SGT EVIE WEST, CLEVELAND POLICE DEPARTMENT “Its not contained in one area—what I can say. As far as the complex is concerned..it was here. But, from what I understand, they were not all attacked and stabbed in the same place.”

A neighbor, who knew all three victims, rushed home from work after getting a call from his fiance. He says one male victim arrived at her door begging the woman to call 9-1-1. She said he was bleeding badly.

T.J. BRADFORD “I know that my other friend was stabbed in the head, in the arm and in the stomach and chest. And I think the other one was stabbed in the abdomen region…and the one with the worst stab wounds…his girl friend was involved in it too…I’m not sure who made it.”

SGT. EVIE WEST “One is here ..there is one airlifted to Erlanger ..and one at Tenova…transported by ground EMS.”

T.J. Bradford says the fatal stabbings were just the latest in a series of disturbances at the complex.

T.J. BRADFORD “Its every other day the cops are here. Last night or the night before, there was a fight on the other side of the apartments, also involving one of the same three people.”
