Community Takes A Stand Against violence
“It hurts.”
The area ministers have called the churches in the area to come out at various sites throughout the city to demonstrate and to show support to the community….
“Please put the guns away.”
What this public service announcement represents today is a community that is committed to trying new things to get their message out, and the message is simple. We will not stand for this violence ….We the greater Chattanooga community, police community, faith, everybody, we will not stand for this….
What most folks don’t understand is everybody is impacted by the violence and by the shootings…
“So many deaths so young…”
And the community has to recognize its role that saying something and saying nothing is not going to solve this problem….
So I wanted to be a voice for a young single mother with kids, with grandchildren stop the violence. We have to have a way out. We have to be vocal. We have to take part in our children’s lives…
“You are better than this.”
There is a better way to live. There is a better way to live than in the violence, in the death, that is going on. There is a better way to live. Choose to live and not to die because that is what they are choosing. They are choosing death, and it is better to live than to choose death.
When people care about the solution, the solution is effective. The response is effective and like I have said many times, it will take a village, and it was really really humbling and inspiring to see a village out here to say no more violence. We won’t take it anymore….
“Before mother’s day put the guns away……”
