Suspect arrested in home invasion shooting case
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police make an arrest in a home invasion/ shooting case late Sunday night.
And it was easy.
They say Calvin Carter III was trying to get into an apartment in the 700 block of Mansion Circle in Riverview around 11:30.
19 year old Shane Finney said someone knocked at his door.
When he checked through the peephole, he saw the man had a gun.
One of his friends fled through a back window, but he said Calvin Carter caught him outside.
He forced his hostage to go back and let him in the front door.
Once inside, Finney says Carter demanded his cellphone.
But when he handed it over, he grabbed the gunman and another friend joined him.
In the struggle, Finney was shot in the upper leg.
The residents then subdued Carter until police arrived and took him into custody (you can tell from the booking photo that the residents weren’t too gentle about it).
Only then, did Finney go to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
Carter has been charged with 1st Degree Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Felony Reckless Endangerment, Especially Aggravated Burglary.
