“On My Own 2 Feet and Wheels” Helps Homeless Community
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- A local organization is helping the homeless by getting them moving and motivated.
“On my own 2 feet and wheels” is A run, walk, and bike program… helping those in need for a little more than a year.
Today, Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke visited the group.
Volunteers partnered with Outdoor Chattanooga to host a bike safety course for the some 15-group members.
“On my own 2 feet and wheels” has provided athletic shoes to the homeless…and those IN the group were given a brand new mountain bike.
“We are hoping through this program to motivate the homeless to give them a purpose to get up to go and our hope is that they get motivation to look for jobs, look for employment and with the bicycle program we’re hoping they use this as transportation to a job,” said Catherine Crawley.
The group competes with track clubs and run clubs across the U.S.
