Fire nearly destroys home on Cove Ridge Road

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – Crews worked into the night Friday trying to put out a house fire at 7609 Cove Ridge Rd.

The call came in from the homeowner, Nancy Rienel,  at 10:14 p.m.

Ms. Rienel told officials she and her grandson smelled smoke coming from the attic area, and were unable to find the source and try to extinguish the fire.

When the Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene, they reported that 45% of the house was fully involved.

Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire to the one structure, but Dallas Bay VFD Chief Markus Fritts reported 60% of the house is a total loss and damages are estimated at $100,000.

Five of the family members were not home during the fire, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be investigated by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

The American Red Cross will be taking care of the family’s immediate needs.
