UPDATE: Infant Death on Tunnel Blvd, Suspects Charged
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Last evening, Chattanooga Police responded to an unknown medical emergency call in the 1500 block of Tunnel Boulevard, finding a lifeless baby through a good Samaritan.
Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services pronounced the infant, an 11-month old female, deceased at the scene. Officers determined the victim succumbed after being left in an unattended vehicle for an extended period on a day where temperatures were above 80 degrees.
Investigators determined the baby’s father to be a suspect and that two other children in the suspect’s care were in need of medical attention. Those children were transported to a hospital by Hamilton County EMS.
Child Protective Services will take custody of those children once they are medically cleared.
Investigators have charged Travis McCullough, 30, with Criminal Homicide and three counts of Aggravated Child Neglect. Jessica Tollett, 24, was also charged with the same counts of Aggravated Child Neglect. Both were transported to the Hamilton County Jail.
The official cause of death will be determined by the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s office through autopsy.
