Rivermont Elementary School gets new principal before school year starts

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Hamilton County Department of Education Interim Superintendent Dr. Kirk Kelly announced Nikki Bailey will take over the position of Rivermont Elementary School Principal on Monday.

Cheri Grant-Guerdon had previously been named new principal for that school.

Bailey currently serves as assistant principal at East Lake Elementary.

She’s held the assistant principal position at East Lake Elementary for the past four years.

Interim superintendent Kelly also announced additional administrative appointments on Thursday.

Kelly Shaw has been appointed to the position of Program Director for 9-12 Literacy.

This position is part of the restructuring of the central office in order to provide a stronger level of support to schools in the area of literacy instruction.

Dr. Jeffrey Scott has been appointed to the position of assistant principal at East Ridge High School.

He replaces Jesse Nayadley.

Monica Gordon has been appointed to the position of assistant principal of Red Bank High School. She is replacing Michael Smith.

Both Nayadley and Smith recently resigned.

Also Thursday, the Hamilton County Department of Education announced three search forms who have submitted proposals to aid with the Superintendent Search.

The Board received proposals from Coleman, Lew & Associates of Charlotte, N.C., Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates of Schaumberg, Ill., and McPherson Jacobson, LLC out of Omaha, Neb.
