Cleveland firefighters heading to Louisiana to help with flood relief

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Cleveland Fire Department is sending firefighters to Louisiana where deadly flooding has destroyed homes and ruined thousands of lives.

The Cleveland crews will help fellow Louisiana firefighters who have been working around the clock, rescuing flood victims and taking part in the cleanup effort.

This morning, Cleveland firefighters loaded all kids of equipment into trailers that will be used to help with the cleanup effort.

The equipment and supplies were purchased at the Cleveland Lowe’s store after the fire department came to Lowe’s for help.

A Lowe’s manager says it was easy to yes to that request

“We would ask the customers to if they would purchase tools and cleaning supplies that the firefighters will need. We asked if they would purchase it at a discounted price. Many of the customers purchased it at the full price,” says Shannon Ingram, Manager of the Cleveland Lowe’s.

“We’re going to take all this stuff and donate it to the people down there and then we’re going to start cleaning up and ripping out the damaged stuff in houses and the sheet rock,” Lt. Jonathan Carroll, a Cleveland Firefighter.

The Cleveland firefighters will head out to Louisiana Monday morning.
