Scenic City Roots Band Profile: Little Country Giants
(WDEF) "It’s difficult to capture the true southern charm that makes folk music authentic. Little Country Giants does just that."
Russell Cook: "What we do is based in folk music, Cameron and I are song writers and we play our own material because no one else is going to."
"Those similar beliefs are what brought this band together. It all started in Northwest Georgia, when the band was in need of a few musicians, but then it grew into something more romantic."
Cameron Cook: "Because I was in a band about 15 years ago and we needed a mandolin player and so he started playing mandolin with us, Russell started playing mandolin with us, then we started dating and eventually got married and eventually formed this band."
"The husband and wife duo formed in 2004 with the vision of using their songs to tell a story. That custom sound is what makes the band unique, which is almost as unique as where the band got their name from."
Russell: "Well there is a radio station, I think out of Lavonia, Ga called the Little Country Giant, and Jimmy Dickens also calls himself the Little Country Giant from time to time. So he said if you ever get another project going, cause we were playing together in a bluegrass band at the time, you should call it, Little Country Giants."
"Through the years the band has played at some of the finest folk venues and music festivals, and continues to capture true expression in each song. In Chattanooga, Tevin McKinney, WDEF News 12"
