News 12 Exclusive: The Aunt of Skyla Speaks Out for Michael Wilson

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Remember the little two-year-old who was taken more than 15-hundred miles across state lines by her father?

Michael Wilson’s younger sister, Victoria Henderson is now speaking out. Her brother was arrested just weeks ago, after he picked up his 2-year-old daughter, Skyla Wilson, from a birthday party, and never brought her back home.

“When my sister called me on Sunday, she said Anne I need to know where Michael is. He never brought Skyla back, he’s missing. And I said, No Danna that can’t be true. And she said I went to his house, all of his stuff is gone and I hit my knees,” says Victoria as she recounts the day Skyla went missing.

Thanks to a few tips, authorities say they found Skyla and her father, Michael, during a traffic stop more than 15-hundred miles away in Grand Junction Colorado.

“He’s not a bad guy, he was just looking out for the safety of his kids,” says Henderson.

Henderson also says she hasn’t talked to her brother since his arrest, and doesn’t know exactly why he took his daughter to Colorado, but says she does have a theory. According to Henderson, Michael had reason to believe Skyla’s mother would be getting custody of their daughter at the end of August, and also believed her boyfriend was a sexual offender.

“Knowing that she was going to go to that home or thinking that she was going to go to that home, he did what he thought was best.”

Michael is currently in custody, facing a serious felony charge of Aggravated Kidnapping.

“My brother was my best friend. He still is, since birth. You know, he’s not a bad guy. He was just looking out for the safety of his kids.”

Henderson says Skyla’s grandmother, or Michael’s mother, currently has custody of the toddler where they live in Charleston.
